The mission of Social Justice & Outreach is to create events and activities at Knox that are open to all people and offer opportunities to improve people’s lives.
Under the SJO umbrella we have several interest groups, including:
Affirm United: The United Church of Canada officially endorsed the program in 2000 and encouraged its ministries to participate.
Creation Justice Team: Formerly known as The Green Team and continues to foster awareness of climate change and our actions in response. We hold food drives several times each year to assist the Salvation Army Food Bank Collection of items for the homeless. Backpacks filled with socks, toothpaste and other essentials
Manna Homeless Society Assistance: There is a Donation Box in the church to collect warm clothing and necessities for unhoused people.
Salvation Army Food Bank Assistance: In an effort to help community organizations that are doing a good job of supporting those in need, we support the Mount Arrowsmith Community Ministries food bank efforts.
Each of these teams work to assist the goals and interests of these organizations within the Oceanside community.
