Jeanne Brownell was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on Oct 18, 2022 at the age of 83.

She was born to Isabel and Karl Karlenzig on April 18, 1939. After high school Jeanne graduated from the St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing and nursed for 35 years. She met her husband John Brownell in Selkirk Manitoba and together they had two children David and Garth. They have 6 grandchildren, Chris, Shawn, Dylan, Shannon, Emily and Sarah, and one greatgrandchild Harrison.

Jeanne spent her life doing what she loved best, caring for people. She used her warmth and compassion to not only treat the sick in various hospitals but also to care for her family and friends. Her hugs and kindness were not limited to those she new but were shared with everyone and anyone. She loved to meet and get to know new people.

Jeanne was a gifted artist and she filled her and her family’s home with beautiful paintings. They depicted those things that she loved most;  nature, her grandchildren, the Brownell homestead and scenes from Florida, where she and John spent many happy years.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 2pm on October 29th, 2022 at Knox United Church in Parksville.  In lieu of flowers please donate to the Breast Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. To view the service on-line simply go to the Knox United Church Parksville website ( kucparksville.ca ) and click on “Worship Services & Livestreams”.

We remember with gratitude and joy the life of Jeanne Brownell who passed peacefully surrounded by her devoted husband John and sons David and Garth at Nanaimo Hospital on Tuesday evening October 18th.

Jeanne was a source of wisdom and compassion at all the many studies she attended and a presence of joy and faith in worship. Our loss is heaven’s gain. We will miss her loving presence tremendously, and our thoughts and prayers surround John and his sons and their families.
