Sheila Alice Berry passed away May 4, 2025 after a lengthy struggle with dementia. She was predeceased by her parents Robert W. Berry and Catherine Berry (Drinnan) and two older sisters Catherine Elizabeth Berry and Roberta Margaret Berry.

Born in 1931, Sheila lived in Gadsby, Alberta as a child moving to Calgary to finish high school. She went on to study medical tech graduating with an R.T. Diploma (1950). While studying she joined the RCAF Reserve Officer training programme in a medical role and a few years later achieved the rank of Pilot Officer.

Sheila worked in various medical laboratory jobs in Paris, Montreal, Calgary and Edmonton. While in Edmonton she completed a B.Sc. (1955), a Master's degree (1965) and a Doctorate in Microbiology (1969). The degrees led to work teaching university courses in Edmonton, Victoria and Nanaimo.

In 1973 she married John B. Nuttall, subsequently moving to the Parksville area, purchasing a farm at the end of Kaye Road. They lived there from 1976 until John's death in 2003. Sheila worked off the farm during these years including heading up the Lab at Nanaimo General Hospital.

After John's death Sheila moved into Parksville where she purchased a home on Bridgewater Lane. In her retirement she was an active member of PGOSA (Parksville Golden Old Age Sports Association) and frequently travelled as a tourist to far off lands.

As Sheila grew older, she moved into Seniors Housing Craig St. where she lived out her final years.
Sheila will be buried beside her husband John at the Berry family plot in Calgary's Queen Park Cemetery Sunday, June 1 at 1 PM.
