Our dear Martha Pow celebrated her 90th birthday this past Sunday, and what a celebration it was.
Because we are still enduring some form of social distancing Martha's daughter asked all her friends (and she has an army of them) to walk or drive by her home and greet her. She held court from a chair on her front lawn while neighbours looked on and cheered.
Many friends decorated their cars or walked and carried signs wishing Martha a Very Happy Birthday.
There were well over 100 cars and many people on foot and she received over 140 Birthday Cards to remember the occasion by.
The community was well represented by the RCMP and the Fire Department leading the way with their ladder trucks. It was quite a celebration and everyone received a celebratory cupcake.
Martha and her family wish to thank the RCMP - Oceanside Detachment as well as the City of Parksville Fire Department.
