Music Leader – Jenny Vincent

Jenny Vincent (Nagtegaal) began her organ studies with Winnipeg organist Henk Schippers.  She went on to study with Lawrence Ritchey (a student of Marcel Dupre) for many years. On completion of her undergraduate degrees, obtained at the University of Manitoba, Jenny continued her organ studies with Arie Keijzer in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. At the age of twelve, Jenny began her career as a church organist and has since held organist positions at United, Anglican and Presbyterian churches across Canada.

Jenny has performed as a soloist throughout Canada and has enthusiastically shared the stage with other musicians, choirs and colleagues from coast to coast.  Jenny is recognized for her superior accompanying skills, exemplified in her work as accompanist for the Nathaniel Dett Chorale. In 2010, to much acclaim, along with her colleague David Drinkell (organist at the St. John’s Anglican Cathedral),  Jenny performed the complete organ works of J. S. Bach in a series of eighteen concerts in St. John’s, NL.

Jenny has amply demonstrated her eagerness to explore many genres of music. Her expressive playing tells a story - she brings to life the meaning in the music for all to enjoy and appreciate. It is with this versatility and passion that Jenny strives to make the organ a valued and accepted contemporary musical instrument. Jenny is a flexible musician as is shown in her piano playing and music choices of all genres and styles. She has also directed church choirs across the country. Jenny loves the arts and is passionate about Sacred Arts.
