OrganWORX is breathing new life into the king of instruments. Created by Artistic Director Jenny Vincent, one of Canada's premier organists, this unique concert series pushes the organ to new heights with creative, exciting performances and world-renowned guest musicians. While the organ has traditionally had a home in the hearts of churchgoers, Jenny and her guest artists are showing new audiences just how thrilling and versatile the organ can be. The organWORX team welcomes music lovers to its third season, featuring: associate producer for CBC Music and classical enthusiast Matthew Parsons with our own Jenny Vincent; world-renowned organ virtuoso Adam J. Brakel; and the return of the Oceanside's professional chamber choir, the Schooner Cove Singers to finish off the season, conducted by Dr. Elroy Friesen. Come enjoy the future of organ music!
CONCERT ONE Sunday, September 29, 2019-2 p.m. at Knox Matthew Parsons, CBC Music associate producer and Jenny Vincent, organist Take a deeper look into one of the most acclaimed composers in history, and famed organist, Johann Se bastian Bach. CBC Radio producer Matthew Parsons will take music lovers through some of the mysteries of the revered but elusive genius with a special story telling presentation set to the musical performance of Jenny Vincent on organ. Learn about and experience the music of one of the most radical and influential composers ever to have lived, whose life remains so much a mystery.
CONCERT TWO Sunday, February 16, 2020 - 2 p.m. at Knox Adam J. Brakel, organist Called "one of the most talented organists in the world" by the Chicago Tribune, Adam J. Brakel is a celebrated prodigy around the globe. Having performed across the United States, Europe and Asia, Adam is celebrated as an exceptionally skilled musician who's interest spans the classical works of Duruflé, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Bruhns, Bach and more. As well as performing some of the most demanding organ pieces, such as Jeanne Demessieux's Six Etudes, Adam has also made a concentrated study of jazz music for the pipe organ. A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory and Duquesne University, Adam is a highly awarded organist who's performance will be sure to be awe-inspiring. CONCERT THREE Sunday, June 14, 2020 – 2 p.m. at Knox Schooner Cove Singers; Dr. Elroy Friesen, Conductor; Jenny Vincent, organist Vancouver Island's first professional chamber choir returns with a program featuring the choral music of Great Britain in connection with some of the choral works of Canada. Under the conductorship of Dr. Elroy Friesen, the Director of Choral Studies at the University of Manitoba, some of the most talented voices in Oceanside and beyond will gather to perform along side celebrated organist Jenny Vincent. Experience some of Canada's choral lineage in this special performance.
